Craaaaaziest Hitchicker

I looked in the Hitchicker archieves and this this was not in them. I have a pic but you can not really get a look at it cause the lights are off.
Looks like a large Pistashio Nut Shell with something inside. It is cracked on one side like the nut shell. It is moving around the tank by wobbeling up and down rocks. I found it originally in the top corner of my tank near the opening. I have no idea what this is and it is not in any book I have....and I have them all. Any help please!!! :scared:

I caught it comming out of the shell it has a long lanky trunk check the pic

Do clams have arms that are an 1-2 inches lng that come out of there shell????

The long arm/trunk that is sticking out is what the clam uses to feed. The clams that you buy from the market to eat have the same thing.

Uh here on the east coast we get our clams in soup or on a hoagie roll with mayo.

It sorta sounds like a cockle to me because of the long arm you described. They are a type of clam too.

Let me ask a question....I hate to be a skeptic and all, but I have a couple clams in my tank and have seen the ones at the market

and I have never ever seen clams climb up and down live rock from the top of the tank to the bottom and taste every thing inbetween. Not to mention climb up the acuarium glass to the top and just hang out. Have you???

I've seen flame scallops do what you say; haven't kept any clams in my tank except tridacnas though.
Are we in agreement it's at least some kind of bivalve?

I honestly can not say :thinking: I am very grateful for all your help though. I am going to remove this hitchicker due to unknown status. I had to remove him from a Monti yesterday and am a little worried. Thank you

Let me add that it can close its shell which does lead me to believe it could be!!!! However it looks really like GODZILLA AND SEEMS TO LARGE FOR THAT SHELL AND APPEARS TO HAVE TAKEN IT HOSTAGE :jumping:
