crab id please

when I came home today from work this guy was sitting in my sand. we have seen him before but only when he came out of a hole in our rock.i could never get a picture of him cuz we always scared him back in. now that he is dead i believe we have one more in there.can anyone tell me what kind he is and if good or bad. I looked thru the id thread and im really hoping he is not a gorilla crab! :scared:

I am curious about this guy also,i have at least one that i see from time to time,but like you said,he stays well hid in a hole in my LR.Looks just like the one you have.

hey it looks to me like the boxing crab..go check out the inverts page on this site and look up boxing crab..thats my best guess

Crabs are hard to ID from a single blurry picture. BUT, I had a couple tiny ones like that and they died too. I would hazard a guess that whatever they normally eat in the wild wasn't present in my tank in any great number. I wouldn't worry about it.
