crab?

i just got a new hermit crab and i no nothing about him. He nis a white hermit. what does he eat is he a danger to my fish what other inverts can he go with any thing like that. i posted this in the fish discussion but got no replies.

The people on the fish side were probably stunned you put something in your tank that could be potentially dangerous!
In this particular case, you probably have nothing to fear. Depending on the color of hermit legs you can determine closer the identification of your hermit. He'll eat hair algae and detritus.

Does this crab carry around a shell? Is it white with brown spots? does he have feather like apendages (sp) in the front? If he doesn't carry around a shell then it isn't a hermit. If your answer is yes to the rest, then he is probably an anenome crab and is reef safe. do you have an anenome for him? They are filter feeders and will eat what you feed the tank. They are fun to watch.
