If its at the top there will be a whole lot less pressure on it. Also it appears to be just on the end of the glass pane. Does it have water in it now? If so I'd say go for it..but also use it as a bargining tool for a lower price. Is is a good deal? What size is it?

The size is 41'' long 36'' wide 25'' tall. I would use it for a reef and it would be sweet since it is super wide.

The person said it did not leak, but the water level in the pic that he emailed me was not filled at the top of the tank. I can always take a look at it filled with water when i go to his house just to make sure.

Yeah, I'd check it out filled up to make sure it doesn't leak...and ask for a cheaper price since it's cracked!

you're going to be throwing out the gravel if you're going saltwater fish tank. gravel's only good for freshwater. so don't use that in your pricing.
if you get a rock ding in your windshield, when it gets cold and you put a heater on it has a great chance of expanding throughout the whole windshield. problem with a cracked tank is that's 140 gallons of water on your carpet.
i'd use it for like a lizard tank if anything

I would get black sand if I am getting it

sorry but i would never consider buying a cracked tank. The crack obviously got there due to some sort of stress or impact. the money youre saving now may be nothing to the total loss if that tank cracks!

yea, i expected it to be a "OMG i have water all over the place" thread. not a "i'm plannning on buying a tank that will crack in the future so i can have water all over the place" one

if you can use it for other things go for it, 100$ for 140 gallons is pretty sweet...use it for a sump for your 400gallon display tank,HA.....i think itd be worth a try to get and fill it up in the garage or something for a while and see how it does...

With all the posts, I am assuming this is a glass tank? IMO, I would try it, but I do a lot of stupid things that my husband looks and me and says (often), "If that ruins the floor I am going to be passed PO, and I am not helping you clean it up." This information is just so you know that to save some money, I am a little crazy.
Anyway, I would think that some silicon on the seam would fix it right up. I would try it, especially for the price.
