cracked aquarium

I purchased a 165 Gallon Odyssea aquarium back in November, 2006. Over the weekend it cracked and water went everywhere. When I speak with the store that sold it to me they say the aquarium is not level. However when they are telling me this I am staring at the level sitting on the aquarium and it is right on.
Has anyone had the same situation. I need to come up with a game plan, so I can get a new aquarium from the manufacturer. What else will cause the aquarium to crack like that? Does anyone know how I can contact the Odyssea company. I can't find them on the internet.

As far as Odyssea you might have luck looking for Jebo also...I think they are one in the same..
Have you checked the level on all sides..
I have a buddy that had his tank crack and he said it was level..It was in the middle front but not on the sides..It doesnt take being much out of level to cause severe problems

I placed my level on both sides and the bubble was in between the lines. I placed the level across the front and the bubble was in between the lines. I placed my level so it reached from the front of the aquarium to the side of the aquarium and the corners are level. I am quite sure it was level.

Hmmm I figured it was..Just never can tell...
Jebo/Odyesea doesnt have the best reputation for making high quality products...Thats what I have heard I have never owned any of said products So I speaking from opinion not exper.

Have you heard anything about their customer service. I know their warranty said they do not cover cracks in the glass. However if I have the pictures to prove the aquarium was level, will they take care of a customer?

lol, leveled has nothing to do with a leakage.(if it looks straight then its leveled, No need for a level) You might be doomed..since you bought it in Nov 06. i don't think they're going to do anything..
You got a defective aquarium, so your ONLY options have to do with the Manufacturer..It's not looking good since its been more than 6 mos ago since purchase..

Do you have it on one of their stands?
First thing is if you do not have it on one of their stands, you could be in trouble. If you don't have it on an aquarium stand in general, you could be in trouble. Most of the disclaimers on tank breakage have to do with the stand they are on, and if you stray from that...you may not have much hope.
Go to the store, and look at another tank. Ideally it would have an info page, sticker, something stating the limited warranty.
For a replacement, I would stick with a major US manufacturer, personally.

If a tank is unlevel it can cause more stress on the panes then if it was level and can contribute to cracking a wall...

yeah, but you don't need a ruler, level, tape measure ect. to place an aquarium on a flat surface..its a defective tank, that's all there's to it..

What the Watch the language would you check to make sure it was level with beside a level..Yes it seems that the tank was bunk....But I have seen tanks that blew out because they were out of level..Noone mentioned a tape or ruler...Watch the language are you talking about..

When I purchased the tank it came with a stand so they cannot blame in on me for having a poor stand.
I know the warranty if good for up to a year. However it indicates it does not cover cracked glass.
There is not question that it was level. Anyone can look at a level and see if the bubble is in between the lines. There is no doubt it is the aquarium but it will be a fight to prove it
thanks for the comments

Hmmm I wonder why they wont cover the glass....Might be because of the prob. of rocks and other things resting on it...

Nigerbang,
I ain't going to argue about nonsense..the point here is that: Usually all good stands are made leveled. right? and so are the tanks.. so if you put a flat bottom tank on top of a flat stand. shouldn't be sitting flat/leveled?
Now, if you have a crappy stand or a crappy tank. Then there will be problems.. do you use a level to set a tv on top of an entertainment center?

OMG...yes most tanks and stands that are bought are leveled....That doesnt mean that the floor is, Jesus..You think that so and so at AGA or Jebo or wherever built the tank for whats his face because he knew that the persons flood sagged 1/2" on the left side of the living room...Use some common-sense..
My tv wont fit on an entertainment center either...

here's some comman sense..
well if any house floor is unleveled, you're gonna have all kinds of problems not just aquarium leverage..
my tv won't fit in an entertainment center either..neither will my tank..
What are we discussing here?

Okay..Stay with me here...This is advanced physics...
I am going to type slow so you can understand..
If you fill a large tank with water in an area with simple flooring...(still with me?) There is a good chance that one side will handle the weight better...You just might get more flex outta the floor joist on the left side then the right side...(God I hope you are still understanding this)
With 2 pieces of wood they wont have the exact same strength properties as the other one..Be it from milling or just simple plain old craftsmanship..
Which do you think is stronger...a 1" solid steel bar or a 1" open steel pipe..?
