It's crazy the way animals never seem to act the way they are 'supposed' to.
Everything I read said that brittle stars would hide in cracks in the LR, and you would only see tentacles for most of the day.
Mine climbs the tallest rock ( the one with about 20 mini feather dusters) and balances on the top of it, with its arms stretched out wide. I know it is feeding, but it does this all day long. It is also the spot where my filter dumps in, so not likely it is getting much food there. I recently installed a small powerhead, just to increase the circulation at other spots, in hopes that he would sit on a different piece of rock... didn't work. I also reward it when it does go to the bottom of the tank by dropping shrimp pellets near it. It gobbles these things up, but still quickly moves to the toprock and does a spread eagle.
Also, are green brittle stars almost grey in color? When I bought this one at the LFS, it looked greyish black, but now it is looking a dull dark green. (I don't want a green brittle).
Any help with it's behavior 'problem'?
