crazy pool filtration

well as i was manually scooping out the leaves of my pool today.. the damn cover never keeps leaves out. i thiough of putting a bunch of those 50 gal rubber made containers ont eh side of the pool filled with gravel. and then mangroves(which by the way be pt in fresh water. and then to a UV filter... for filtration .. instead of clorine. i thought it would be pretty cool.. ya know? so it would be a gigantic fish tank w/ a fuge. but then i thought, well the plants would need nitrates to consume, so in some other bins, we put some koi.. my mom didn't like the idea of putting koi in the pool itself
and it's a 35,500 gallon pool

My parents have a chlorine free filter system ( something with positive and negative ) and it is great. the dogs even drank from it for years now. One year my dad bought some big goldfish and put them in the pool at the end of summer for a few weeks. It was cool to chase them around.
