Creature in my rock!?

Last night I was looking around in my tank with a flashlight to see if I could fine any little critters that only came out in the dark. I came across this wierd thing sticking out of one of my rocks. It kinda looked like a small elephant's trunk, for lack of better description, and it quickly retracted back into the rock when the light hit it. It was about 1/8" in diameter and a couple inches long . What in the heck was this thing??

Sounds like a bristle worm to me. I also looked at my tank with a flash light and found a couple of them. They are helpful to your tank and eat waste particals. Just until they get too big, they won't ever be a problem.

I agree with 007. Peanut worm. What color is it? When it went back in, did it look like it retracted inside itself?

Yep, definitely a peanut worm. It kinda scared me because I was right up on the glass looking for tiny creatures. Pretty gross looking.
Thanks guys!
