I recently had a credit card used for an online dating service. :scared: The credit card issuer is investigating and I caught it before it could be used again so I am off the hook for the charges. A 3 way call was initiated by the issuer to the service so I could confront them about the charges. The dating service said my information did not match the info entered at the time the dating acct was set up. They still would not reverse the charges! The credit card rep was somewhat taken back by this and told them it was obviously a case of fraud because the personal information did not match. They still would not reverse the charge. The credit card rep then informed them that he would be refunding me, charging them back for the amount and deactivating the card. I don't use this card online and it has been in my planner (which is closely safeguarded) so I'm not sure how they got the number. I returned a fish to a chain store in January and they could not find the transaction to credit my account so they wrote the card number down on a scrap of register receipt. I have to assume that this is how my number was compromised.
Please be careful with your credit card information and check your accounts regularly. I happened to catch this one before I was billed by keeping tabs on my accounts. I randomly call to confirm balances and transactions.
