Critters in refuge question..

Refugiums are a place for things to grow (copepods, amphipods, ect.) free from predation. For this reason we usually don't put any hermits or any type of critters in there, maybe only a couple snails to keep the algae under control.

I agree that the primary idea of a refugium is a predator free environment...I do have several snails in mine. Plus there are a few scarlet hermits that appear to do no damage to the micro fauna in my refugium. I don't think a few hermits would do much to deplete pod populations...especially in a mature refugium.
