the one on the right is for the seahorses, the one for the left is for clownfish and bta. Still pretty bare.

I need to add alot more stuff, just trying to find good hitching posts. My gordonian is still pretty small.

it used to be against a wall but my boyfriend wanted people to see it when they walk in the house. it's pretty walking in at night. On the other side there is a glass door where we have a pool that constantly changes colors so it has a really cool effect at night coming in. Thanks for the feedback guys. Is there any advice on what else I need to add?

That's what I like too...first thing you see when you come into our house too. Not sure if my husband would go for adding a pool for the other effect though

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...if that were my tank, I'd add a ton more hitching posts. That, I think, was another mistake I made. I had a gorgonian as the main hitching post, but not much else. From what poniegirl has posted, I think horses prefer to have hitching posts available at least every 6 inches(Michelle, please correct me if I'm wrong), especially for feeding and hunting.
How big is your "clean up" crew?

I don't know if I would go every six inches..that'd be a pretty tall order.
For my tank in the future, I will be keeping the LR to a dull roar (I LOVE the stuff), across the back.
The front will be sandbed and a variety of plantlife; shaving brushes and there is a plant I am currently trying to ID in a photo I posted in another thread. It grows more like ground-cover. I am very fond of the way that looks and the potential for critter breeding.
Some caulerpa in those charming containers that Lisa thought of.
I like tonga branch for hitching, also.
I'm not a coral person, so I can't make any intelligent suggestions there.
My own preference is to have points of interest from bottom to top, especially in a SH tank.

I just noticed there is a "Private message" link on the page....
Well, how long has THAT been there? Am I just blind?

I want to get more of that tonga rock too, I like the way it has branches. I have a serpent star fish, a mini brittle starfish that I saw for the first time last night ( hitchiked on a rock), 20 nass snails, 10 turbo snails, 15 blue legged hermit crab, 5 pepperment shrimp, and a couple emerald crabs. Both 55 gallon tanks have the same amount. More hitching posts, I have to get more imaginative there. I really like the maidens hair, will they hitch on that?

If there is hunting to do in Maiden's Hair, yes they will hitch...I like to look of that, also.
Your peppermint shrimp should breed and offer up some nice snack foods.
I have such mixed feelings, there. I have considered combining live bearing fish (saltwater mollys) as tankmates with seahorses, for that very reason.

OMG!! Look at your algae cup!! That looks really great!! The caulerpa that was placed in mine are going nuts with growth. Actually, in the cup on the right side of the tank, I didn't even realize there was caulerpa in there...well, pttttt, there is NOW!! LOL...
I love your set up with the 2 different environments separated but looking like one!! Will it be difficult in a situation like that to keep the temperature moderated for each side? IDK...Looks really cool

Thank you. I have not had a problem with the temp yet, hopefully I won't.

You probably won't...that was just something 'lil 'ol anal me would have to think about...details, details.
Again, I love that split set up. Did you buy it that way or did you rig it that way somehow? Do you have to do 2 separate water changes weekly, or are they connected so that the water from one goes to the other? I know...questions, questions...very cool set up!!

LOL...Lisa

We originally had a 100 gallon tank but I had a friend who wanted to get rid of his 2 55 gallon tanks. My boyfriend thought of the idea of splitting them, we know a carpenter who made the stand for us. I always wanted seahorses but my son wanted a clownfish with a bta so we made the set up for him. With the 2 55's we both now get what we want. The 100 is still going to be a saltwater, just don't know what will go in there yet. I have to do seperate water changes weekly, tried to connect them through a sump but it was really difficult. Now they have just 2 seperate filters. Thank you so much ! I am glad you like it!!!
