Crushed coral

It seems that crushed coral is claimed to have the ability to raise PH...but I'm not sure to what extent. I'd do a on-line search for additional info....but I don't think I'd assume crushed coral alone could radically adjust a low PH level.

I don't know if this helps but I have Crush Coral on my Tank and I always have to be adding "Sea Lab # 28" to bring my PH to 8.3

CRUSHED CORAL RAISES YOUR NITRATES TOO HIGH, YOU SHOULD USE A DEEP SAND BED TO HELP MAINTIAN YOUR WATER QUALITY...TRUE CC HAS A BUFFERING EFFECT BUT IN THE LONG RUN YOU WILL HAVE NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH CC. IF YOU LOVE TO DO WATER CHANGES ALL THE TIME THEN CC IS FOR YOU. GET LIVE SAND, YOU AND YOUR FISH WILL BE HAPPIER

Crushed coral does not increase pH significantly. It just acts as a buffer at best. I wouldn't count on CC for maintainning a high pH.

I was wondering what I should use, CC or live sand? Doesn't the sand play havoc on a hang on filter?
