hey, so I have CC in my tank...I know, I have learned why sand is better now, but at the time, CC is what I was told to use.
tank has been running about 4 months now, and I have some good corals, and fish doing great, so I am scared to change out the substrate....here is my question
what if....I were to take out the CC a little at a time, and SMASH it into sugar sized grains and replace it....could I get the benefits of sand sized substrate, without the big substrate do over?
or, could I scoop out half of the CC and replace it with sand...then the other side a few weeks later?
to CC isnt THAT bad to me, but I can definatly see that sand would be better
thanks

CC has very sharp edges that are not weloming to sand sifting animals such as jawfish and such ..by crushing it you will create even more sharp edges
best idea is to slowly replace the cc with sand.
