Phosphate isnt only about the light source....
It is caused by overfeeding, improper cleaning rituals, and could even be the source water you are using. There also may be other reasons I'm not thinking of right now.
Look at everything you are doing as a whole before you pinpoint just one possible source.
PS-also, the light isnt the actual cause of the phos problem, it just brings it about

Got ya. In that case, im not sure that shortening the duration of a light cycle will help. I would be inclined to say it wouldnt matter since it is the source water causing it.
If you do water changes with better water, that will cure it better.
