Curious about the seaclone...

This is my first post on this board so hello everyone.
I am in the process of setting up my first saltwater FO tank. yippie! I have ordered everything I believe that I will need so wish me the best.
Anyways---I was curious about what people really think about the seaclone skimmer. I know there are a lot of different views so lay it on the line for me. And another thing--if you are currently using a seaclone or have run one in the past---What size tank do/did you have it running on?

The seaclone works great for me. The trick is to make sure you get the latest model. The center riser tube will only be a few inches long on the newer ones where it rises almost to the top on the older ones.
I used it on my 29 and am now using it on my 55.
I am very happy with it and have read many other posts on this board expressing pleasure with the seaclone as well.

the seaclone works great for me too although for your tank being 110 gal it may be a bit too small for you. there only rated for up to 100 gal. you could certianly try it though.
good luck and welcome to the board

the seaclone is a fine skimmer. I've used it before, however, I currently use the prizm. I find it easier...they both skim just fine though.

I have the older model and recieved poor preformance until I broke the inner tube out of the skimmer, now it works great. there is a great thread about makeing it more effective.

thanks for in the inputs and the welcome.
I am not sure if i have the new model or the old model because i haven't recieved my order yet.
I have gotten lucky really because my friend has a 55g FO salt and he is moving so i am getting all his fish and just a few rocks for free. Can't beat that. I am sure that i will have lots of questions for all you guru's once my equipment has arrived.

This is my first posting after becoming a member as well. After much deliberation with myself I decided to do the mods on my Seaclone. I cut down the inner most tube to 3" and put a better air meter on the inlet. I just got it up and running again but after cleaning it, its throwing lots of fine bubbles. A product of cleaning it or cutting the tube I dont know but I'll give it a few days to break back in. I also seem to have a mix between the old one and new one because mine has the 1200 powerhead but it also had the full length inner tube. It does not work as well as the skimmer on my new Amiricle SL-5 hang on wet/dry on my other tank and its only been running for 3 days.

I just got mine a few hours ago.I already have plans to change the air intake valve...what a piece.
I think mine is a mix between the old and new because is has the 1200 but the longer center tube (4 inches). Do you guys suggest that i cut it down to 3 inches?

im very pleased with my sea clone. im running it on a standard 55, with great results.if the center tube isn't almost all the way to the top, then you have a new one.when adjusted correctly it will do a great job.if its new it will take a while to break in. so dont get impatient like i did. the new clones work good, its a fact!!!

I guess i got lucky with getting a new one.
i just got the substrate in the tank last night and the water so i am letting everything settle. the waiting game has begone.
Thanks again for all the opinions and help.

I have the newer one too, but I too think it is a mix of old and new. The inner tube is just over four inches. My only gripe is the air inlet valve but I will be replacing that soon. It is working fine and everything is going great.
