current in a reef tank

I have 2 hydor Koralia #3 power heads that are 800 gph and I was wondering if this would be to much current in my 75 gallon? I have a few softies, zoas and a few sps. What do you all think?

If your fish are pressed against the glass...then you have to much current.

You're fine...I have a 47g with a Koralia #4, Maxijet 1200 and two 100s. Ihave GSP,Xenias and Zoos.

ok then I will put the second one in the tank and watch as my clowns are swept across the tank. Thanks for your input. Ill let every one know how it goes. Dustin

remember the everything will adjust to it....give it siome time...so if things close and fish aren't where they usually are in the tank don't worry right away...on a reef the current always is varying...good luck

sweet, thanks. I cant wait to see what happens in the long run I hope that my acros will be really happy. well I hope that all my corals will be happy. my softies are all shriveled up right now but they do that when I put my hand in the tank as well, just a different current and they shrivil for a few minets.

personally i think that is too much IMO. I have a 55 reef and i have a 500 gph return pump into 2 nozzles so those are 250 gph each in diff directions and a 200 gph powerhead hanging on the back of tank. I do desire a little more flow in some areas like the back corners of my tank but i am doin' ok. Just my 2 cents.

For a reef, you should have atleast 20x turn over for you 75g. Which is 1500 gph. With your current flow, you are at 1600 gph. So, you are just fine IMO.
Look at me.......I have about 30x turn over in my tank and all my corals are doing great. Xenias are growing like a weed and my fish have no trouble swimming around. Some very experienced posters say you can never have enough flow.
The only reason my flow is so high...is because of the Koralia jets. Like I said...they are not a concentrated stream. I would never try 30x turn over with just maxijets. It would be a sand storm.
