So I have been shopping lighting setups for my 55G. I am looking at the Current-USA Sunpod 2x250W, 14,000K setup. Anyone have any experience with this fixture?

The only other thing that I was worried about is; Will this setup limit me on what corals, clams, etc I could keep, since there are no actinics? I see alot of people feel that T5 is better than HQI.

2x250 over a 55 is a lot of light. try the 2x150w. i hv the 2x150w over my 72. i dont use anything under it.

I got hte same 72 bow with Sunpac 250's. They are great as the light is 14,000K.
However, with the glass tops my water heated to about 84 degrees, so I pulled off the tops. Cooled down to 77-78 degrees!
I lost a bulb about a month after I got it and the supplier immediatly replaced it.

I have the 2x 150 on my 65 and it works great.
This is a really old pic but its an example of the light 14k current bulbs.

Kingfish, are you using the 2x150 or 2x250? I also have a 46 and have been looking at the 2x150, I just don't want to have to deal with a chiller.

i use 2x150. I think 2x250 is to much for a 46g

I agree, I was looking at either tek or aquatinics T5, but by the time you add bulbs they are the same $ as the sunpod, and alot less wattage. I am leaning toward the sunpod, the temp was my only concern

There is a used one for sale on

[hr]
that is 6 months old and has 3 days left, bid only to $100 with $40 shipping.

If you get the 14k bulbs you dont need any PC or T5 to make up the blue spectrum.

I have a 250 sunpod and love it. The intial bulb that comes with it is junk. Mine lasted only 3 months. Other than........would buy again.
