Custom aquarium cabinets

Have any of you made them yourself? I am wanting to get a nice cabinet and canopy for my tank, but they are so expensive. My husband is a Mgr for Lowes, so I am hoping he or someone he knows can build my one. What are some things I need to include in this? Is there a site that has building plans, ect?

My dad is a supervisor at a high end cabinet making shop and has been in the business for many years. Having that experience, he decided to build his own stand and hood for his 125. It turned out beautifully!!!! And a heck of a lot cheaper (being able to get all that stuff at cost is helpful, sounds like your husband can, too). I say if your husband has the tools, the know how, and the time (biggest factor) go for it! Good luck!

I would suggest you make a list of ALL the equipment that will go under the stand and how much room it will take up, like a sump and tall skimmer, UV sterilizers can be tall too if installed vertically, etc.
Do this prior to starting so you don't make one too shallow or short.
