cutting circles??

hi hi guyz.. i was wondering ho wi can cut large ( 10'' or so..) circles or of a sheet of 1/4'' acrylic??.. can i use a jigsaw w/metal blade to cut it??

A fine tooth blade would prob be your best bet. Be very careful though and go slow as it can break easily. What kind of project is this?

Or go to a high school and use their band saw. (We had to make acrylic coasters when I was in school and that's how we cut them.)

Yep like its been said, Go SLOW. drill a small hole large enough for the jigsaw blade to start and use a fine tooth blade so it does not chip the plastic but may have to scrape the blade clean every so often cause of melting. still use a spay bottle with water and keep spaying the blade and sheet to keep it cooled down as you cut.

im gonna make a perdy big needle wheele type skimmer.. 10'' diameter fiberglass tube.. about 2' tall...

Use a blade that has very fine teeth with very little kerf (side to side position ofthe teeth). Blades designed for cutting metal will work. Ones for plastic are even better.
