my 2 cents: i have been cutting mushrooms since i got them, and have had very good success with it. i usually just cut the head of and stick it in a hole in a rock, or sometimes if i have a small rock, i will use a peice of panty hose to secure the mushroom frag to the rock. i just did my first multicut mushroom frag last night, and am still waiting to see how that turns out. my method, derived from the garf site, is to cut the mushrooms at the base, then i take the cuttings and put them in a cup of tank water and some seachem vitamin a and amino supplement, leave them in there for about 5 minutes, then put the cuttings where i want. the first one i did, right when i cut the head of the shroom off, i watched as i could actually see the base of the mushroom actually growing over the cut right before my eyes!! it was pretty cool to see, and very reassuring that i didn't just cut a mushroom and kill it!=) anyway, just my experience. i am getting ready to try to propagate some star polyps next.

oh yeah, i forgot to add, that i had a couple peices that didn't get attached, just floated around my tank, and about two weeks later i rearranged my live rock to find these mushrooms had attached themselves to my rock and were growing out of sight! i even have one that has it's own crack in the rock it lives in, and it comes out to cover hole when the lights are on, and goes away when lights go off! i find it pretty amusing, especially since i didn't put it there in the first place, it found it's own way there!! :D

I had a stray attached to an empty snail shell. Now a crab has made it a new home and carries the shroom all around the tank.

So let me get this straight. I have two fairly large watermellon mushrooms and I can propogate them by ripping them off their rock(with my hands!) and place the tops in holes in my LR??? SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!!

Yes you can do just that! Rip away, these guys are nearly impossible to kill.
About the forum, I don't think they will add one due to the bandwith limitations which is why I gather the nixed the aquarium forum.
