Has anyone heard of using peroxide to get rid of this red menace?
No...use red slime remover...follow the directions exactly. I don't know about the home remedy but I wouldn't trust it.
If you don't remove what caused the problem, it will still come back. Make sure you clear the tank of phosphates and nitrates...do water changes and make sure you have good water flow and no dead spots, last...never overfeed.

red slime remover is relatively cheap. It's an antibiotic, and can kill cyanobacteria. (believe it or not, not all cyanobacteria is bad.) lol. But, for the most part, if you have a lot of red slime, add more water flow, feed less, reduce lighting, do water changes, siphon it out as much as you can, increase natural filtration with an algae scrubber and if all else doesn't work, then use the red slime remover.
