alrite ever since that incident, i cut my lights down to half its original time which was at 12. so it was 6 for about 1 week. then i started to raise it back up. and now its at 10 hours a day. i started feeding less like once every two days. i tested my water today and ph was 7.8 so then i raised it back up to 8.3 with the buffer, nitrite 0 nitrate 0 ammonia 0.25 poured in a little of the ammonia detox. and then i went to the lfs. came home and bam its there. what should i do now? should i cut it down to 5 hours now? i bought premixed water today to do a water change tomarrow. what can i do?

Are you testing the premixed water at all? What are the nitrates and phosphates in that? Is it RO or tap that goes in your tank?
And the pH and ammonia is another concern. Stop adding things to bring these levels down/up. You need to figure out where the problem is. What is your alk? Is there anything dead or decaying to cause ammonia?

Are u using ro/di water for topoffs? I know I had a bad outbreak about a year ago, and I was about to give up, then I bought ro/di filter and in about a month it was all cleared and no cyano since. I tried the cutting lights down and less feeding to no prevail. I think your water quality is usually the reason. Cutting down on lighting will cause it to go away. I kept my lights off for 4 days straight and it all dissapeared, but after a couple topoffs with tap water it started to come back.

well my tank is a nano cube and i stacked the rocks in a kind of group thing and there is like no way you can see in side the rocks. so i dont think anything died. i need to get a alk. tester. the water i bought today the lfs said said it was saltwater from the ocean dont know if thats true or not. well i dont mix my own water anymore since its a big hassle and i got school and stuff like that. well people told me to get testers only for saltwater but i didnt know that before and bought a tester for fresh and saltwater. well i think that tester is unaccurate. because i tested my brothers tank and the ammonia was 0.25 and everytime i test my tank its always at 0.25. and i have no idea why my ph is always dropping so low. my calcium was 500. well just almost an hour ago i used a turkey blaster and just took out as much of the cyano as i can. and tomarrow im going to do a water change and take out as much as i can again.
