cycle new tank

i had an ick out break and fungus and my 8 fish died i started a new tank and i see like a film on top of my water with suff on top what is that

hmm what tank did this happen on?? a mature tank? tank parameters??? equip? UV Sterilizer?? Protein skimmer?

1 month old. i started a new one with a fluvol 404 a power head a 300 watt heater 80 pounds of araginite and 20 ibs aragilive aragenite 10 pound of live rock. i have a film like stuff on top of my water i dont know what that is

not to sure... could be the actual sand particles foaming... you need to hook a protein skimmer to this for sure and clean up some of that gunk

You need water movement on the top of the water. To break this up. Your last fish might of not had this and sufficated. The water movement is the gas exchange. It lets nitrogen out and oxygen in. If you dont have this it will alow film to settle on the surface and fish and inverts and corals to die.

If im reading this correctly, you had 8 fish in a 1 month old tank? If so then this was the reasoning behind your tank crashing. Do go much slower this time around.

3 weeks to a month with 10 fish an 2 emrald crabs and a star fish

i started a new tank 2 day ago and put my live rock in it with a power head puting air in the water moving it around you can hear the fiss in the water like when the sea wave come and go any ideas?75 gallon tank with 10 ibs of live rock and 80 ibs of reef sand araginate and 20 ibs of live araginate from carib sea
