ok well i just started my tank back up. had it broke down for almost 2 months, used my live rock from when i broke to down (they stayed in saltwater in rubbermaids the whole time) so when i set it up i already had the help of cured live rock, but still expected a spike from the little die off that was on them, i also used live sand from the keys that i get from my lfs for my sandbed. i waited 3 days after i set it up to test for a ammonia spike. but didnt have a trace.. so i threw in 4 cocktail shrimp, waited 3 days.. tested still no ammonia spike, and the shrimp are looking all funky, but my trites were at 20. would it be safe to say that i missed the ammonia spike and now the trites are spiking?

Then Id say its possible that your liverock had plenty of bacteria in it to keep up with the shrimp.

Basically its established with well cured LR and new LS...very possible that its able to cope with the ammonia.

I'd still give it a couple of weeks and start adding livestock slowly...
