well this isnt my first tank...but lets start this off.
It has probably been about a week and half of running.
I put 2 dead shrimp in my sump and it is a 65 Gal tank.
I bout about 70 pounds of LR and only about 1/4 of the rock was out of water for roughly about 2 hours, for the ride home...
and then other rock came from my other tank so it its pretty much cured.
now Ive tested my ammonia and...nothing.
I JUST got my nitrates and nitrites test kit...why I didnt have them?...lets not go there..haha
so my question is...why am I not getting a result back? some of the local reefers say that I am probably not going to have much of a cycle...some say I will.
whats your opinion?
I will be able to do more testing tomorrow...

A cycled tank just means you have enough bacteria to support it's current bio load.
So if you have a lot of live rock, and you just put in a small bio load (piece of shrimp), you probably won't see an ammonia spike. Just to be safe, wait another week.
Or add more pieces of shrimp, you might get a spike then.

Great.
I reread your original post. What's in your *other* tank? Where are the fish?
the fish are in one of the guys tanks from a local reefing forum, he blocked off one of his tanks from his system that is probably close to 600 or 700 gallons and made it a QT for the time being.
