Cycle through! ID this please

I have finally finished cycle. The Ph is a bit wacky but im working on it. I am going to do a 15% WC and order CUC this week. I am going to order
5 nass.
5 astrea
1 turbo
1fire shrimp
Will any of those take care of this " brown stuff "? And is CUC enough for a 28g with 30lbs LR and 20lbs of LS ?

the brown stuff is diatom algae bloom which is perfectly normal and expected in a newer tank - you may have these blooms occur for years to come until you reach that perfect balnce in the system and get a good lighting and feeding scedule down too. The turbo snails and astreas will both eat it. You should cut back on your lighting (hours per day) to limit it's growth. Using RO/DI and not a lot of flake foods will help prevent this stuff too (regular water and flake food both contribute phosphates to the system which are food source for diatoms).

As far as the CC being enough - IMO - no - I would like to see you get more nassarius and ten turbos to start. The nassarius will clean the substrate and help to aerate it also as they burrow. The turbos will clean the glass and rocks - so that is a lot of ground to cover for only 5 of them. I have a total of about 150 various snails in my 130ga including a conch.

10 is WAY too many for turbos. Maybe two, this is a small tank. Being the tank is new and there are diatoms, I wouldn't add too much of a cleanup crew. They don't feed off of diatoms. You will have to clean that yourself. If you add a lot of inverts right now, they will starve.

I dont think its a sponge b/c it was'nt there till recently. I have just today turned on the lights, thats prob. why there is not more of it.

2 turbos and 8 nass snails. Get as many nass. snails as you would like, they clean the sand bed. Don't buy too many turbos though.
