Cycle time

Setting up a new 75 gal, and I put 100LBS of live sand from an established reef, plus 60LBS of live rock from a different tank.
What kind of times am I looking at? I am testing my water daily and not getting any ammonia/nitrite/nitrate. I also added about 75LBS of lace rock that should get seeded by the live rock eventually.
Thanks in advance!

If both the sand and the rock came out of established tanks and you transported both in water you may not see much if any of a cycle since what you put in was already cycled. How long ago did you put the rock and sand in the tank?

Welcome to the forums.
I agree. Sounds like you won't have a cycle as all of the neccessary bacteria is already on your rock and sand. The only issue would be if there was significant die off for some reason.

Just be sure to be slow, and patient.

I also agree you probably missed the cycle since it was already in an established tank. I would start with a cleanup crew this weekend, then add fish the following week

thats a good idea. I have a few snails that came in the sand, but I should finish the cleanup crew. ill see what I can find this weekend.

So how is your cycle coming along? Must be good by now? Something I have been doing, when establishing a new tank, Adding few drops of pure ammonia at least to get a .50 reading.
I actually set up 3 QT tanks in an extra room in my house, I added Live Rock and Live sand and they cycled withing 2 weeks. The 4th tank, which is a bare for medicating with copper is hasn't gone through much since there isn't anything in it yet, plus the copper would do a number on the bio load anyway!
Well hope all is well!

I am fairly new at this also. My questions are what does miss a cycle mean. What is the cleanup crew going to eat? And lastly I assume these readings you are looking for have to be a result of something introduced into your water. What did you introduce to produce the readings you are hoping to get?
