cycle with shrimp

hey
anyone who has cycled with raw shrimp how long before u saw a amonia spike i put 4 large in my 200 also have 250lbs cured LR and 300lbs of pure live sand

If your LR was cured, you might never see one.
Cured LR means it already is cycled. Now, your tank may go through a little spike due to some Die Off but, if it is quality cured and shipped correctly, I doubt you'll see one.

i know i did not plan on seeing one as we discused a few days ago but i figured with the shrimp i might be able too force a cycle make me feel better or atleast raise the bacteria level a notch or 2 ,
if the tank should spike with the 4 shrimp i put in there how long do u think it might take before i got a reading?

I saw an increase in a couple of days.
But as mentioned, it may alos happen so fast you may not even see it. It will raise, but enough cured lr, coudl restabilize iself in almost no time at all. Which does not mean it did not happen, it only means you did not notice it.
If it goes a week(in your case), without you seeing any climb, then I would think it is safe to proceed(shrimp will raise it fairly fast) but the amount of bacteria(lots of cured lr) you may already have, might even blast it back down twice as fast too.
In any case, you casnnot force or prevent a cycle, IMO they do happen in every tank. The question is how long(hours MAY be posible, but weeks are also more possible)
