my tank:
40 breeder
60 lbs of natures ocean bio-active live aragonite
5 lbs of live rock
2 penguin 400s ( will remove one and run skimmer at later date)
2 rio 600s
2 damsels
After of about a week and a half my ammonia was at .02 I haven't measured agin and it's been three weeks. the damsels are in good condition. With the last piece of live rock i bought i ask for a scoop of sand from the lfs tank and they obliged. I noticed a white worm that was kinda fat on one end and smaller on the other. He dissapeared into the sand when i put the rock/sand in the tank. I also noticed some tiny tiny wiggle worms i call them in the water. what are these critters? I'm guessing they are benificial. Also got a small snail on the rock! I hope that the worms and snails survive if my tank cycles any worse than it has!! what do you guys think?

ok it didn't hurt! ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate maybe 10 using fasTesT kit. do you think the bio-sand is keeping the ammonia from spiking?

couldnt help but notice your from Kentucky mind if I ask where in Kentucky? and the critters in the sand and rock will be fine in your tank. My ammonia never spiked much more than .02 and was testing 0 after about 2 weeks.

I'm right down the road from you, in Winchester. We moved here a couple months ago. What lfs you frequent? The only one I have found thats decent is Best Pets off of Harrodsburg road.

the Lfs here are not great by any means. I order most of my fish online here at Saltwaterfish.com Just down the road from Best Pets is a place called MVP. They always have a wide selection of Saltwater but you have to be very careful with what you choose as I have caught Ich from this place on a couple of occasions. Now as far as the best quality of fish there is a place on
Richmond Rd. next to Kroger called Animal House. The owners there are great and I have come to know them personally. They are now expanding their saltwater and always have the best looking and healthy fish there is. Email me at robynlex@msn.com and I will give you some other good place I have found. There is also a thing called buddy system where some people in the area get together and order things off line and split the shipping cost, jsut a thought. I do not know anyone in our area but am aware this system is out there. Good luck
