Cycling an Nano

Ok- I will be getting a 12G very soon.
For the filtration I want to replace the bioballs and junk with live rock rubble.
I plan to get this rubble from my LFS where it is already been in established tanks.
Will the bacteria on the rock be enough to start the tank cycling?
As for the water I want to leave the original water in the tank until it is done cycling correct?
After I see the drop then I can do a water change.
Just want to make sure. This is my first little tank.

I'd put some food in the water to help speed up the cycle.
I would not change the water until right before your first inhabitants go in.
Good luck and keep us posted!!
