ok so i have been trying to cycle my QT and is not working. i has been up for about 2 weeks now. i tried the shrimp method of cycling and it has been a week since i have taken it out. the parameters are staying the same and havent changed since i took out the shrimp. i really want to get a couple clownfish this week but depends on if it is cycled or not. is there anything that i am doing wrong. i just dont know y it isnt cycling. all help would be appreciated.

How long did you leave the shrimp in the tank, did you wait until you saw ammonia before removing it?

ok here are some answers to your questions.
ammonia .75
nitrite 0
nitrate 0
there is no sand or live rock in there since it is a QT
yea the ammonia hit 1 ppm so i took the shrimp out. that was like a week ago.

your cycle just started, now just leave it alone. The reason its so slow is the fact you have no LS/LR in the QT (ie less natural organism die off and lack of beneficial bacterial growth room to speed the cycle up). Are you using a hang on back filter? If so, you're relying on the mere biological filtration pad for the buildup of ALL your necessary bacteria. Just be patient and it will finish.
