It was a hard first month for my saltwater tank. i had poor demsels died on me because my ammonia was out of control, but everything is back to normal. I did a water test and everything is normal. My current live stock, tomato clowns, one damsel that survive the shock, couple of blue-leg hermit crabs, are swimming freely. I am so happy to have this stage of completion in my saltwater tank. Just one questions. i want to add more clean-up crew, i was going to get couple of shrimps. or is their something better?

Buy some cerith, turbo and astrea snails for your clean up crew...more for algae purpose.
Nass. snails clean the top layer of your sand bed
Shrimp are great scavengers...
How big is your tank?

Whats done is done with the damsel. In the future just drop a raw shrimp or two in there. Does the the job just as well. Let your CUC eat it up.
Anyway. What do you want for your tank? Like what type of tank? Wat type of fish? Get rid of the other damsel if you want a peaceful tank.

I am just going to have the two tomato clowns in it. nothing to big. just going to stock it with a better clean up crew.

How much live rock are you planning to put in ? I ask this because having two tomatoe clowns can be a big problem ( or maybe not if you get lucky ). The clownfish can be very territorial ( they are in the damsel family ). The tomato clown can get 5.5 inches which is on the larger side of clowns. If you have a male / female you can get lucky ( try to buy in a pair and no matter what you do add them both at the same time ) They may fight extremely bad in a 20 gallon over territory. I know that some say that if you do end up adding to males or two females that one wil change ---, but that should never be follwed in a samll tank. The less dominate one will take so many beatings that it might hide or never show any personnality. Good luck and remember if you do add two and one claims the entire tank as territory then you can rearange the aquascape to create new territories. If they fight really bad try to auquascape it where one can be out of site of the other.

take your word of advise about cycling a tank with live fish. Um. i am going to upgrading soon to a 40 gallon or so. i think that would be plenty of room of swimming. As of right now, the clowns do not fight, they actually swim with each other. when i first introduce them in the tank. They were trying to show dominance over each other, but not anymore.

Good . I love clowns ( have two pairs in my tank ) I just always want everyone aware of the possible risk. Is one biger than the other ?
