Cycling my 55Gallon

I just started up my 55Gallon today. I have about 50lbs of Live rock and 2 inch deep sandbed. About how long will it take to cycle? How could I speed up the cycling process? Any advice would be helpful...

it should take about 4-6 weeks to cycle but u want to take your time with this process and dont rush it. i have learn that if u take your time and give it time it will be worth it. also u never really want the "cycle" to end u always want your system to be able too keep up with the amount of live stock u add

Is there anything else in the tank, if not add a couple pieces of raw shrimp into the tank.

No there isn't anything else. Just rocks and sand. I've heard a lot of people say that raw shrimps help. I should try that. Thanks.

Is it live rock? Now is the time to add as much live rock as you can.

You dont need to add anything to help cycle it. The live rock will do it all for you. From my experience with live rock the cycle will last anywhere from 3-5 weeks. I just set up a tank and the cycle (using live rock and sand) took just over 3 weeks.
