Cycling my tank is killing me!

When you get uncured rock do you just brush it with a new cleaning brush or do you scrub till your fingers fall off it sounds like for a lesser $$$ investment and some elbow grease you could have a lot more lr is this true

It took me 2 months and some to have my 29g cycle fully, and then after that for about 4 more months and the water wasnt perfectly clear until I started to use distilled water/ installed a 10g sump. It's worth just being patient... it's also cheaper.
