This hobby is not one to rush. Take it from someone with very little patience...Listen to the advise of all the previous posts, but don't add any more dead stuff, and wait for mother nature to take her course. I am 4 weeks into my cycle....I am dying to add livestock....I know that I have to wait for the system to stabilize.
My water after 4 weeks
ph 8.2
ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 5.0
Nitrates: just a trace
Be patient and watch it work

Ok guys.I was so tired and frustrated with my test results that i decided to read a lot more about cycling tanks to see what in hell i was doing wrong.I end up even more frustrated because i realized that every single thing that i was supposed to do was already done,so how come i always had the same results?.Get ready for the answer
.My freaking test kit is a piece of !-#$%.Yes ,the test kit that i have been using from day one is good for nothing. I was so upset that i told my self,"i'm going to buy another test kit and if i get the same results i'm going to grab a hammer and i'm gointg to take care of my bacteria" and guess what!
here are my results:
Amonia=.25
Nitrites=0.1
Nitrates=2.5 Low range 12.5 High range
Ph=8.0
Alk=Normal
So finally i am happy because i know that my "TANK IS NOT DEAD"

I learned my very first lesson."Don't be cheap buying test kits"
It is one of the most important things for this hobbie.
RED SEA you are my hero

I'll be back in about a week with my new results,i can't wait to buy my "fishies".
:cheer:
