cycling q regarding MY tank situation..

I have a 135 gal. 4 days ago, i added (when i got the tank half full, now its all but 4 inches full from the top) 150#LS and approx. 100#LR. One day later i added my shrimp.. My question is how long should this cycle take, regarding my particular situatioin? I have seen no sign of ammonia yet, is why i ask..Thanks

It's only been a couple days. Sit back and keep testing your water every few days. Most importantly, just be patient.

I ask because i have read where others have used LR and LS and their cycle finished quicker. Could any of those people that have done this please chime in..Thanks

My cycle finished in 5 weeks w/ LR LS... but some have finished in two... some in 7. It differs from tank to tank, unfortunately there is no hard fast rule to how long it will take.
If you haven't noticed a change in readings after three-four weeks then something odd is happening. Your levels should peak in the next week... then it is only a matter of time before they go back down.

My 36 gallon had 45 lbs LR and 10 lbs LS (to seed the other 20 lbs of sand) from the start of my cylce. That was about 4 weeks ago and my nitrites are now at .25 ppm, so I'm expecting my cylce to be over within the week.
