I've had my 120 gl set up for a week with 3 in ls bed,80 lb lr,120 lbs diy lr,1 raw shrimp.Trates5.o,trites .25 (cheap test kits),PH 8.4,salt 1.023.I've got brown stuff on my rocks & ls.Is it diatoms? I thought that happened after the cycle? I can brush the stuff off. I know I probably wasn't supposed to, but I added 6 turbos to try & stay on top of the green hair algea.

The brown stuff is normal. It may even turn colors on you within the next few weeks. All tanks get it when cycling. With good water flow it will go away in time.

brwon stuff is called diatom, a type of algae. If you filled your tank up with tap YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT!!!!!!!

Glad to hear that it is normal,, I used RO water and I am getting as well after 1 weak. However is this a sign of poor circulation in any specific spot because it is in small areas on my LS and starting to get Green algi on my glass and on bottom on LS ?

RO water is Reverse Osmosis and I got mine a the almighty Wally World.. It is 25 cents a gallon,, it is filtered and UV filtered as well,, will help reduce algi in tank. It is the big blue Colligan system. Grocery stores usually have as well..
Tap water can contain alot of minerals that will encourage algi growth..
