Hi all!! I was wondering how long does it take for the ammonia level to go down when cycling? Do I need to do something to bring it down? I've only had the tank cycling for 3 weeks and I know I need to be patient but was just curious....thanks in advance!!
Seems I might have jumped the gun..I just did a test and my ammonia was about .50 to 1.0 (so hard to figure out the difference between the green...haha) however I checked my nitrites and nitrates and they are finally starting to spike (nitrites 10- nitrates.50) So hopefully my ammona will be coming down soon - right??
I added just a couple of lbs of lr until I can order some online-lfs doesn't carry a very good selection around here (thats a whole other topic..haven't completly decided what lr to go with). I also have been feeding the tank but stopped a few days ago..
i'm about 17 days into my cycle, using a damsel, and my ammonia went up to around .25, now it is zero, no trite or trate present. I removed the carbon filter and turned the skimmer off, should i see an increase(.5 - 1.) now?
Now that i've cut my filter and skimmer off, and replaced the old lights, the brown algea is beginning to go away. What caused this decrease in this algae, don't get me wrong, i'm happy, but what would cause it to go a way?
Please help
