Cycling tank

I am getting ready to cycle our new tank (125 gallon) I have 50 lbs of LR and 100 lbs of DR, will this be enough LR to start the cycle or do I need to add a shrimp too? (The LR says it is cured but coming by UPS 2 days so i assume it will then be 'uncured).
If I do have to add the shrimp can I remove it after the ammonia spike or do I have to leave it in there and how long? I run a daycare and I really don't want it to stinkup the whole place. Thanks!!!! :happyfish

As long as its packed properly. the live rock should be fine.
I usualy see it wrapped in damp paper in large bags with water.
I cycled my tank with 10Lbs of live rock and 30lbs of live sand. Plus I added 'cycle' into the process.
(im gonna slap the next person who asks how big my tank is! LOL).
A week later I chekced the levels and put two Damsels in there. 4 days later the tank had completly cycled!. I couldnt belive it.
As for the shrimp. Theres no harm in leaving it in there and watching the bacteria break it down. It really doesnt get that stinky if you have a cover of the tank. Plus, its fun watching the "Blob" slowly devour the shrimp.

If the rock was cured when you bought it, by the time it gets to you, there should be a good enough amount of dye-off to cycle the tank if in a couple of days it does not start the cycle, I would then add some shrimp (1 isn't enough for a 125 gallon, is it?)
