Cycling with cocktail shrimp

I just started my cycle yesterday with some cocktail shrimp. I put 2-3 pieces in, and then later my girlfriend did the same thing. Does anyone think this overabundance of rotting shrimp could cause a problem? I could easily get some of it out if necessary.

it should be okay, but don’t let it degrade too far or it will be bad for the tank. Try putting it in a fine mesh bag (some people suggest a swatch of pantyhose made into a little baggie. Let the ammonia spike, then get it out, or you could have a bad case of algae.

2-3 whole shrimp?? and then another 2-3 whole shrimp?? How big are they?? Shouldn't be a big deal.

Question is what size tank are they in.
I cycled with a large prawn till it about rot then removed it. I'd say after a week or so your ammonia should be running along just fine, then you can remove them.

P.S. To many cooks spoil the broth

It's a 55 gal... yes, 3 whole shrimp, and then 3 more. I'm not exactly sure what she was thinking by adding the other 3, but I'm sure it was something along the lines of, "I'm just trying to help."
