could also be a mini cycle.,,,,but if you want to make sure for sure, either wait it out, or jump start your cycle and wait it out. ....This is a new tank setup , no fish in it ... correct?
test the water wherever you are getting it from.....

No fish! A couple of hitchhikers, though. 2 small starfish of some kind and what appears to be 1 brittle star. Also, one snail. All of them are doing fine.

typical hitch hikers ....wait it out a couple weeks, let it cycle and then slowly add fish. and then let the new bacteria build up with each new fish.
