Ok all you experts

....what is the best way to cycle a new tank-sure wish I had known this when we started.... :happyfish :happyfish

LR. Thats all you will need. But you cvan use the raw shrimp also. I did it. But the LR is all you need. Make sure your temp stays around 78 to 80 degrees F. Also I would get some flow going

You can use uncured live rock or drop in a raw uncooked shrimp.

Yes live rock and live sand will cycle your tank if the rock in uncured. If it is cured rock and you are unsure if your tank is cycled or not, drop some fish food in the tank and let it decay. If your ammonia spikes and comes right back down then you have enough bacteria to start adding some fish. Let us know the tank size. One fish per 2-3 weeks is usual to not spike your system. Don't rush the process. That is the number one mistake.
