cycling?

Just filled up my 80gl fish only tank. was wondering how many shrimp to through in to get the cycle started? And how long do you leave them in there? Last time I used damsels. Have LS only. Using old rock from last time the tank was running.

I threw in 1 Extra Large raw shrimp in my 180 and it worked great!! And I left in in until I saw an ammonia spike.

I only used 1 for my 75 and removed once it spiked as well.

I wonder if some live shrimp may help with my cycle. I started with some live rock ruble and let that go for a week ghost feeding. Then after a fishing trip, I had some "bait" shrimp left and put 5 in the tank, still kicking. 1 did die, but the others have been doing good and I still feed the tank. Nothing on the Nitrates yet, but have to test again tonight.
