I suppose it could look black under no light or the right light. Vacuum and remove it and increase flow in that area and see if it comes back. DO NOT USE RED SLIM REMOVER. I did and I regret it, it left a ton of dead cyano in my sump that I had to clean out. Best to treat it without chemicals. I know that there is alot of people who used it with no problem but I feel it just made a mess.

When I look under the tank up through the glass under the area that my live rock sits is all black. I removed a little of it to look at it and it looks like black sand to me. Levels are showing fine. Flow is 30X. I can add a phos sponge. It is just in the area of the live rock about 1'x1'. I am getting a little algae on top of the sand. I have the flow strong across the sand. Any ideas?
