Well, I guess I haven't been real vigilant lately!
I did notice that one of my males has been reclusive lately. Is that common when they are preggo??
Anyway, I came home from work tonite and was doing my top offs.(No I still don't have an ATO)
So, I go to pour some water in my seahorse tank refugium and what do I see??

That's right! Two baby seahorses!

I ended up finding 9 in the refugium and 3 in the tank. A total of 12. I don't have much hope for them, but I guess it means my horses have figured out the breeding thing!
I pulled them out and since all my small tanks are currently occupied, I put them in my dwarf tank!
Unfortunately, my clown babies are big enough not to need baby brine. I also have my dwarfs trained to eat frozen rotifers and cyclopeeze. So, I don't have any baby brine.

I added some live rotifers, along with frozen rotifers and frozen cyclopeeze, and set up a brine hatchery. Hopefully, I will have some baby brine in the morning. If I still have horse babies then, I can feed them.
Not ideal, but the dwarf seahorse tank is bare bottom and has fake plants with small enough hitches.
Anyway, I figured I would post to share. I don't think any will live. It's cool to know the horses are breeding, but sad that I didn't notice and act fast enough. I will def. get a tank ready for the next batch, and will let you know if I get incredibly lucky with these.
Sorry, no pics. My camera can barely get a decent pic of the dwarfs, and these are much smaller.

I knew you would be mad about no pics.
I really tried, but my camera just won't focus on those little guys.

Yes....life happens...and it's wonderful! I just should have been better prepared!
When I have baby clowns, I leave the light on 24/7 for the first couple of weeks. Anyone know if I should do this with the horses??
Ok, these pictures are probably worse than having none, but I took about a hundred and this was the best I could do. So, you are getting them......like it or not.

They are about the size of an adult brine and move around as much as clownfish! (If that gives you an idea how hard they are to photograph)

It sure would be great if some lived, but I already can only find 5. They maybe in there, but I don't see all 12! I hope they last the nite and my bbs hatch quickly! I think they may be eating the rotifers, but it's hard to tell.

Well, I got up this morning and couldn't find any fry. Fed frozen to my dwarfs.
Came home this afternoon and saw one little guy swimming around. The bbs finally hatched so I put some in the tank and watched the little guy swim around and eat. He seemed to be doing well.
I went to church and out for dinner. Came home and now I don't see any! I added some more bbs anyway! Figure my dwarfs will enjoy the treat. I will check again in the morning, but don't expect much!

Oh...speaking of next time.....I definitely noticed some pouch flushing and chasing today. So....maybe next time will be soon.
I will be watching more carefully, so I am not taken by surprise again!
