What other fish do you have in the tank? Does it have ich? It's obvious to me that he has been harassed by another tankmate and thats why he has been hiding, what kind of tank also? Try garlic to entice him to eat.

a maroon clown, 2 blue damsels, a huma trigger, a chocolate star, and a pair of fresh water black mollies that were used to cycle the tank 3 years ago but havent died yet. ph is 8.2 ammonia, nitrite and nitrate near zero. that all i can test. there are no new fish they have all been together and have their own teritory.

Get him out and into a QT tank. Feed him healthy foods, including spirulina, perhaps some mysis..and add some Selcon,Zoe,and Garlic Extreme to his food.

any of the above except the mollies are good at taking the fins off.... if you dont have a qt tank turn the lights off for 12 hrs... during lights out ... reaarange the rock work .this process will reestablish territories for all fish...
but you really nee to let the fish heal in a qt tank for a month
