Today I was rearranging the rock in my tank and I found not 1 but 2 (I think they're called) flaming scallops. The red
"hairs" were still attached and the shells intact but nobody home.

What can I do in the future to help the critters survive the curing process?

Why do they die? Is there not a way to feed them?
Are you adding the rock to an established tank? If not maybe I'll buy a smaller set of lights to use for curing additional rock that I add to my Tank.

Flame scallops usually die in home aquariums anyway

I have a buddy that "loses stuff" left and right (hes not real good at following instructions) but his Flame Scallop is doing great and has been around for almost a year.

i think they require a constant supply of phytoplankton to thrive... most peoples tanks cannot supply them with the constant supply that the need.
