Damsel acting odd...

Hello,
For the past 4 months my blue damsel has been the king of the tank and the 3-stripe ran from him every time he came close. Now it is the other way around...the 3-stripe dominates the blue....odd.
Here is my question.....the blue damsel has now dug out a hole under a large piece of live rock and he sleeps in there. The hole big enough to put a baseball in there. He has built a barricade of sand around the opening and he acts normally when he is outside this new hole. I have never seen/heard/read of this type of thing with damsels...any ideas???

We only have damsels and they each have created a similar space for sleeping--the blue damsel has the deepest spot under some dead coral. We also have a yellow tail and a velvet--they usually stay behind or under some other rocks. This is where they go every night after lights out.

Sounds like your 3-stripe might be growing up.
They can get more aggressive as they get bigger - at least that is my understanding.
All the damsels I've had did/do similar things too.
They dig it !

Cool, thanx for the info. It is kinda ironic to see the old "king" put in his place for once. The 3-Stripe has grown a bit over the past few months and I bet you are right, he's entered his time as the reigning nuisance, hehe
