Damsel removal

I have tried netting, fishing , trapping the SOB's with no success. Will starving them work or will they just start eating my corals? I have 2 tangs also that I don't want to lose, but it seems they get lots of food from grazing the LR?

Starving them won't work. They WILL eat because you are going to have to feed the other critters in your tank.
I had to catch a yellow tang one time, and I had to move all the LR out the way and go really fast with the net. I know it doesn't sound very helpful to mess up your tank, but you might just have to do it that way to catch those fish. Sorry! :nope:

I had the same problem... had to move lr around.. then the sob swam into a rock that i took out. I couldnt find him... till about 5 mins i found him in the bucket dead.... oh welll his loss... i tried a small plastic mouse cage... it had a lid on the top that i tued fishing line to the top and made it close like a trap door... i was able to get one that way... the other one was smarter....

LOL.. I'd love to know your secret, because I have a blue damsel that I've been trying to catch for the past 6 months and he's quicker than lightning.
At one point I thought a piece of LR smashed him, but he surfaced later to laugh at me.

This just worked the other day to get a mean little domino out. I tried netting, cornering, all that....and just got mad. So here's what you do: Get an empty plastic pop bottle (16oz or so) and cut the top off where it starts to taper into the opening (about 3/4s up the bottle), cut the opening off so it's just large enough for the fish to get through, flip the lid inside the bottom of the bottle. Don't silicon it because you'll want to get the fish out, just make sure it's tight. Drop some food in there, place it sideways in the tank, and wait...It'll find it's way in. Good luck!

1) remove all your corals to a seperate holding bin filled with saltwater
2) remove all your liverock to another holding bin filled with saltwater
3) lower your water level in your now almost empty tank
4) using a bucket (NEVER a net) herd said fish into clear bucket using a brightly colored spatula
5) return fish to LFS for store credit or just leave him there as a donation. After all...you put the fish into your tank to start with and he doesn't need to be exterminated because you now don't like him.
6) replace liverock and refill your display tank 3/4 way full.
7) replace corals and top off display tank
8) you've accomplished a water change and redecorated and removed and safely returned innocent fish behaving as this fish has always been known to behave to LFS.
