I know that Damsels are aggressive and can be territorial but are they a threat to peaceful fish i.e. gobies?? I'm in the process of cycling a 40gal breeder tank and would like to know if they're combatiable?

Just some input out of the Damsel's I've got and had,Domino's can be pigs(when feeding)
,Yellow tails, haven't had any issues with except my lionfish didn't get his weekly snack and ate him
Now,one of the two Blue Devil Damsel's has costed me about $45.00 Destroyed an orange linkia star,2-dwarf pink and white feather dusters
! and I still can't catch him!

Are Damsels really that difficult to catch? And are they troublemakers just on their own or with other tankmates?

i think alot of it depends on which damsel you get! the damsel family is a large one.... i have had a domino like the other said they are pigs and a pain to catch..but he was good with my firefish golbie. and yellow tails are the same. but my green cromis are easy to catch and very peacefull. the jewel damsel i have now will be a pain to catch i think.. hope i never need to catch him but he leaves the other fish alone spends his time picking pods off the rocks.

IMO My Damsels (Javanese Damsel, Yellow Tails, Blue Neon) ALL pick on my Yellow Watchman Gobie and my Lawnmower Blenny.
If I had to do it over, I wouldn't do it. IMO

yes. i netted one, caught 2 in a DIY trap (over the course of 2 weeks) and eventually after a month of starving it (the last was still alive), i pulled out all the rockwork and netted it.

What kind of damsels do you have? That is a broad group that includes clowns. Most non clowns can be nasty guys. They will terrorize fish three or four times their size. It is mostly over territory. The thing with damsels is that they don't just claim one or two spots in the tank. They will defend half of the tank if they have already claimed it as theirs. They are very quick and difficult to catch.

If my yellow tail see me with the net, it speeds to the rocks and wont come out till the net is out of sight!
